KP urges inclusion of merged dists in NFC

Peshawar - A high-level meeting was held at the Finance Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to discuss matters related to the National Finance Commission (NFC). Chaired by KP’s Advisor on Finance Muzzammil Aslam, the meeting was attended by NFC Member Musharraf Rasool, Secretary Finance Aamir Sultan Tareen, Additional Secretaries Gul Bano and Tauseef Ahmad, Financial Analyst Waqas Paracha, and other senior officials. Muzzammil Aslam stressed the immediate need to formally include the Merged Districts (formerly FATA) as the fifth group in the NFC.

He criticised the federal government for delaying the NFC meeting, terming it a deliberate neglect of constitutional and financial obligations. He further asserted that the 7th NFC Award had lost constitutional validity upon the completion of its term, and any extension would be unconstitutional and unacceptable to the KP government. Participants unanimously demanded the immediate release of KP’s share for the Merged Districts and called for funding aligned with the districts’ expenditures. Concluding the session, Advisor Aslam reaffirmed KP’s commitment to defending its constitutional and financial rights at all forums. Tags: urges inclusion merged.
