Peshawar - The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Secretary Higher Education Department, Capt (r) Kamran Afridi, stated that the provincial government is fully committed to addressing the financial and administrative challenges faced by the higher education sector, particularly public universities. He said the government is actively developing short, medium, and long-term strategies in this regard. He appreciated the swift efforts of the Higher Education Task Force, formed under his leadership on the instructions of the Chief Minister.
The task force, in consultation with experts, has prepared practical and actionable recommendations, which will soon be submitted for final approval. Afridi expressed these views while chairing a meeting of the Provincial Task Force on Higher Education at Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar. The meeting was attended by prominent educationists, including Vice Chancellor KMU Prof Dr Zia-ul-Haq, Prof Dr Shafiq-ur-Rehman, Prof Dr Usman Ghani, Prof Dr Ureed Ahsan, Prof Dr Jamil, and Prof Dr Gul Muhammad.

He stressed the importance of close collaboration between the government and academic leadership to uplift the sector to international standards. He acknowledged the progress made by the task force and expressed hope that its final report would be submitted by the end of the month.
