Srinagar, Apr 26: To promote environmental responsibility and foster civic awareness among students, the Institute of Technology (IoT), Zakura Campus, University of Kashmir (KU), conducted a cleanliness drive with NSS Unit-II at the campus.The one-day drive saw active participation from students and faculty members across departments. Volunteers carried out campus-wide cleaning activities, waste management drives, and awareness, aiming to instil a sense of collective responsibility and encourage sustainable practices.

Vice-Chancellor KU, Prof. Nilofer Khan, in her message, lauded the efforts of the students and faculty involved in the drive.“Environmental consciousness must begin at our educational institutions.



Initiatives like these not only promote cleanliness but also build a strong sense of social responsibility among young citizens,” she said.Speaking on the occasion, Director IoT Zakura Campus KU, Prof Tariq Banday, stressed on the importance of community service and shared civic responsibility.“When individuals contribute selflessly to society’s welfare, they experience a deeper sense of fulfilment and purpose,” he said.

The program was coordinated by Programme Officer NSS Unit II, Zakura Campus KU, Qazi Junaid Ashraf and was assisted by Mr. Riyaz Ahmad Mir, Section Officer IoT Zakura campus KU. Students enthusiastically participated in the drive, taking the lead in cleaning and raising awareness about proper waste management across the campus.
