PESHAWAR - Lady Health Workers (LHWs), associated with various health professional groups, on Monday demanded that the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa fulfill its commitment regarding the approval of their long-pending service structure. Addressing a press conference at the press club, office bearers from various LHW groups stated that they had repeatedly requested the relevant health department authorities to address their concerns, but no action had been taken. “The government should promote Lady Health Workers beyond Scale Five,” they said.
They pointed out that although resolutions had been passed twice in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly to address the coordination and regularization of LHWs, these were yet to be implemented. They also expressed disappointment that the Director General of Health had not taken the time to address their issues. The LHWs complained that their salaries were often delayed for five to six months, causing severe financial hardships for their families.

Similarly, Akhtar Bibi, leader of the All Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Lady Health Staff Union, said, “On one hand, we face life-threatening situations during immunization campaigns due to militant threats, and on the other, the government is bent on our economic destruction.” She added, “Since 2012, we have been stuck at Scale Five.
We continue to serve in the same position. Whether it’s rain, storms, or earthquakes, we never stop administering polio vaccinations and are always at the forefront of all health-related efforts.” Tags: lady health workers.
