The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Lagos Chapter, has announced its full support for young individuals contesting in the forthcoming local government council elections in Lagos State.In a statement released by its chairman, Mr. Adigun Olalekan, the organization commended the surge of youth participation in politics, particularly following the enactment of the #NotTooYoungToRun law.

Mr. Olalekan emphasized the importance of youth involvement in politics and governance, stating that it is crucial for building an inclusive, innovative, and progressive society. “Youth participation in politics and governance is crucial to achieving a more inclusive, innovative, and progressive society,” he said.



He highlighted the 2025 local government polls as a significant opportunity for young people to demonstrate their leadership capacity and commitment to grassroots development. “We believe that the future of governance lies in the hands of competent, visionary leaders who are ready to bring fresh ideas and energy into the system. The 2025 LG polls present an opportunity for youths to demonstrate leadership capacity and commitment to grassroots development,” Olalekan stated.

Olalekan also called on the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) to uphold its mandate by ensuring free, fair, and credible elections. He assured that the NYCN would be organizing sensitization and voter education programs to encourage massive youth participation and promote peaceful and transparent elections across the state. “As the election approaches, the council would also organize sensitization and voters education programmes to ensure massive youths participation and to promote peaceful, free, and credible elections across the state,” he said.
