THREE strategic development plans aimed at encouraging business development in Vuda, Lautoka were launched by the Minister for iTaukei Affairs, Ifereimi Vasu on Thursday.Mr Vasu said the plans were meant to ensure that developments carried out by Vuda landowning units were carried out in a sustainable and structured manner. He said they would also ensure landowners were able to financially benefit from each business deal they entered into.

Vuda Holdings Pte Ltd chairperson Ratu Meli Tora Tavaiqia said the main objective of the initiative was for their people to prosper.“All this while people have been running businesses with an isolated approach,” Ratu Meli said.“And I am sorry to say this but as of right now there has been nothing to show for it.

“So we thought, why not we look for an initiative that will get the people together and people will care for each other while at the same time we prosper.”He said for every business initiative they would undertake, the view of each landowner would be taken into consideration.“Like with Vuda Holdings, we have different tokatoka (family units) and mataqali (landowning units) who are coming in so we will try to see what benefits they will get and at the same time they become shareholders in that particular business initiative.

”He said the company was also planning to sell shares on certain investments.“I am already in talks with some businessmen and if they wish to buy some shares and they do well, then they will be given a chance to buy some more.“With that approach that will help the current and future generations.
