Starting May 5, Las Cruces parents will be able to throw their hats into the ring for a spot in the city's Summer Recreation Program. The City of Las Cruces Parks and Recreation Department will open lottery registration applications at 8 a.m.

For those steering clear of digital transactions, in-person registration can be done at multiple locations, including the Parks and Recreation Administration Office and the Las Cruces Regional Aquatic Center, to name a few, with hours ranging from the early morning well into the evening.
On Thursday, May 22, families will know whether they hit the jackpot or not through the modern marvels of email or text; the winning lottery numbers will also be at the aforementioned registration sites. The program itself spans from June 3 to July 18, save for a couple of eyebrow-raising closures on June 19 and July 4. The entrants' age bracket is as specific as it gets; only children in kindergarten through fifth grade for the 2024-2025 school year can partake.
And if chosen, families must fork over $40 per child by May 30. Set sights on Jornada Elementary, Loma Heights Elementary, or Mesa Middle School as the battlegrounds for this summertime escapade.
