This weekend marks the final opportunity to experience the Booth Museum of Natural History in Brighton before it closes its doors for essential renovations.

This weekend marks the final opportunity to visit a museum before it closes its doors for essential renovations. Booth Museum of Natural History, in Brighton, will shut to the public on Sunday, April 20, 2025, for at least one year. The museum, in Dyke Road, which house 40 per cent of Brighton and Hove Museum's collection, will undergo an “important initiative” to improve its collections, refresh its visitor experience and upgrade essential infrastructure.

Read more: Brighton: Booth Museum to close for essential works (Image: Royal Pavilion & Museums, Brighton & Hove) A spokesman for Brighton and Hove Museums said: “The project will allow for a full assessment, better storage solutions, and even conservation work on the iconic dioramas, which are of national interest and importance. “The museum is also preparing to welcome an exciting new upcoming natural history collection bequest, further enriching its displays.” The museum will still be open for monthly special event days throughout the period, offering behind-the-scenes access to unseen collections.
