YOUNG writers have less than a week to submit their entries to a new JEP competition launched in conjunction with the Jersey Festival of Words. Islanders in school years 5 to 11 are being invited to pen the first chapter of a thriller story in “The Opening Chapter – Thriller”, for the chance to win a cash prize. Each writer must submit a maximum of 300 words by Wednesday 30 April.
The winner’s work in each age category will be published in the JEP during the literary festival, which is taking place from 19 to 28 September. Adult writers, no need to fret. The regular poetry and short-story contest will run separately from next month to July, as per previous years.

Competition entrants must be born or resident in Jersey and their work must not have been previously published in any public form, print or digital, or have won a prize in any other competition.
