The Trump administration has fired hundreds of FAA technicians and engineers despite an ongoing shortage. Many of those fired were longtime employees and will be difficult to replace. I am a retired flight attendant, who worked from 1974 to 1994.
Training to sit up in that tower is no easy task for the many flights that controllers keep track of everyday. One accident in years does not mean the system or people behind it are unqualified. An investigation into any accident finds many reasons behind it.
The shortage of FAA controllers did not start under the Biden administration. The shortage began in the Reagan administration. In the political world it is so easy to blame the previous administration rather than your own.
Or in our case today, having someone who is completely unqualified and was not voted into an office “by the people," whose plea to ask retired FAA staff to return to work demonstrates his ignorance about FAA training and employment requirements. People are also reading..
. Stripping the FAA of competent staff obviously impacts airline safety. If a shortage is so serious then why would you let people create an even larger unsafe situation.
Hats off also to pilots and flight attendants that get us safely to our destination daily. Shredding air safety will cost more in both money and lives.
