A local nonprofit is holding a mental health awareness event next month at Nebraska Innovation Campus that will feature live music, vendors and storytelling. Making Lemon-Aid, a nonprofit dedicated to offering hope and healing through storytelling, music and mental health awareness, is hosting the community event titled "Rebel: The Making of a Champion" on May 4 at 3 p.m.
The free event will feature music, local vendors and stories from individuals who have overcome depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts. Created to support small businesses during the pandemic, Making Lemon-Aid now focuses on several issues that affect the community, including mental health. "The event was created to be more than just entertainment — it’s a platform for breaking stigma, building community, and letting people know they are not alone," the nonprofit said in a news release.
