The Los Angeles Chargers have been in an identity rebuild since the hiring of Jim Harbaugh last season and that continues as his identity is further imprinted onto this roster. Having already invested in Najee Harris in free agency, the Chargers decided to sure up the position by landing one of the best pure runners in the class in North Carolina running back Omarion Hampton with the 22nd overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Hampton is a bruising running back who carried the load for the Tar Heels over the past two seasons.
With excellent play strength, a punishing running style, and plenty of wiggle in his game, Hampton is an excellent three down back for the Chargers for the next few season. Hampton figures to split the load with Harris in his first season, but should still see plenty of touchers in a Chargers' offense that wants to run the ball more than any other team in the league if possible.
