The Reds would be in with a chance of retaining their Premier League crown next season with this side

Liverpool's 5-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur has confirmed the club will lift the Premier League trophy at the end of the 2024/25 campaign, sealing an excellent first season in England for Arne Slot . Taking over from Jurgen Klopp was a daunting task, but the former Feyenoord boss took the coaching at Anfield like a duck to water and his side steamrolled past the majority of the English top flight on their way to the trophy. It's just the second time in Premier League history that the Reds have managed to get their hands on the title, with the first coming in 2020 under Klopp.

This time, though, the club and its fans won't want to wait another five years to reign supreme in England again and there are a number of different moves that they can make this summer to give themselves an excellent chance of retaining their title next season. For the Reds to have the best opportunity to do so, here is the starting XI they'll need next year. Goalkeeper & Defence While they've looked fantastic for the most part this season, Liverpool have been a little shaky in defence at times and as such, there are a number of moves the club needs to make to ensure they're in a strong position to try and retain their Premier League crown next season.

First of all, they'd keep Alisson in goal. The Brazilian has been fantastic following his move from AS Roma in 2018 and he's still one of the best keepers on the planet. Next, they'd have Trent Alexander-Arnold in the team by the time the next season starts.

The full-back is almost certainly moving to Real Madrid this summer, but in an ideal world, the club would keep hold of him as he's one of the best right-backs in the world. Then, they'd bring in one of the most impressive defenders this season to Anfield in Dean Huijsen. The Bournemouth centre-back has been vital to their strong campaign and, having been linked with a move to Liverpool , he would be a fine addition to the Reds' backline.

Virgil van Dijk has been one of the club's strongest players this season and is still one of the best defenders around, so it makes sense to keep him in the side. The captain will be vital to the club if they're to go back-to-back. Andy Robertson has struggled this year, so an upgrade at left-back would be wise and another Cherries star in Milos Kerkez makes the most sense.

He's already caught the club's interest and with his recent social media post as well, the club might fancy their chances of recruiting him. Liverpool are the frontrunners in the battle to sign Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez Midfield When it comes to Liverpool's midfield, there are few sides who can compete with them. If it ain't broke, don't fix it and the club should just stick with what they have in the middle of the park when it comes to their starting lineup.

The likes of Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai have all been incredible for the Reds and there's no reason for the club to even think about replacing any of them right now. The former particularly impressed during the win against Spurs , with fans praising him for his role in the team and with a number of different areas in the team needing upgrades, they'd be wise to just leave their midfield as it is. Three Premier League legends, of course, but how are they ranked by Mac Allister? Forwards Mohamed Salah has been incredible on the right side of Liverpool's forward line and having recently signed a new extension at Anfield, there's no doubt he'll be playing in the starting lineup next season and for good reason.

The team is simply better with him in it. They do need further additions in the front line, though, and with Alexander Isak recently linked with a move to Anfield , the club would be wise to do whatever it takes to bring him into the side this summer. The Swede has been electric for Newcastle United this season and would be an instant upgrade leading the line to those currently on the books at Liverpool.

Another player that the side have been linked with lately , and would be a fine addition to the lineup, is Xavi Simons. The RB Leipzig star has been a standout performer in the Bundesliga this season, with 14 goal contributions in the league. He'd give Slot something different on the left flank and whether he started in place of someone like Cody Gakpo or not, his mere presence in the side would be huge for their chances to retain the Premier League title next season.
