Longbeachize reports that Long Beach Pride lost backing from companies that typically provide it with sponsorships, including McDonald’s and Walmart.
The organizer told Longbeachize that the changes have likely come as a result of President Donald Trump targeting of diversity initiatives.Long Beach’s restaurants, hotels, and bars receive a significant boost during Pride, as well as new jobs and tax revenue for the city. Sponsors for large events often cover a significant portion of the operating budgets.
Over in West Hollywood, performers for Outloud Music Festival at WeHo Pride were recently announced, with Lizzo, Lil Nas X, and Kim Petras as headliners. Long Beach Pride runs on May 17 and May 18.Laughs in the desertThe Los Angeles Times reports that the Southern California region has a new comedy hotspot: the Coachella Valley.
The publication noted an emerging standup comedy community with unlimited free parking and no two-drink minimum requirements throughout the area, including Palm Springs and Palm Desert.A GoFundMe for Mama LoafLoaf Language, Mochi Krunchies creator, and Mama Loaf farmers market vendor Tiffany Kim, is raising money to help pay for her mother’s cancer treatment. New Val Kilmer mural in Santa MonicaMuralist Jonas never painted a mural in honor of legendary actor Val Kilmer on Ashland Hill’s exterior wall in Santa Monica. Never is one of Los Angeles’s best-known muralists, having painted tributes to Anthony Bourdain and Kobe Bryant over the years. The Tombstone and Top Gun actor died in early April.
