In addition to the toll waivers, the Maharashtra government has introduced the Maharashtra Electric Vehicle Policy, 2025. The Maharashtra government has announced a toll waiver for all electric four-wheelers and electric buses on key expressways in the state. This decision was made during a state cabinet meeting held in Mumbai on Tuesday, as per Mid-day.
From now on, electric vehicles will not have to pay tolls on these important roads: Mumbai–Pune Expressway Atal Setu (Mumbai Trans Harbour Link) Samruddhi Mahamarg (Hindu Hrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Expressway) Additionally, a 50 percent toll discount will be given to EVs on other state and national highways managed by the Public Works Department (PWD). The new policy offers more than just toll waivers. Here’s what EV buyers in Maharashtra can look forward to: No motor vehicle tax No registration fees or renewal charges Discounts on new EV purchases till 2030.
