However, according to industry sources, select variants are now being discontinued from the Thar lineup. Until now, the Thar had 19 variants, but Mahindra is set to discontinue eight of them. These include the AX 4WD trims, convertible top trims, and LX variants that featured an open differential.
Entry-Level Model The AX variant served as the entry-level model, available with both RWD and AWD options. However, with Mahindra discontinuing the AX AWD variant, buyers will now have to opt for the LX trim, positioned above the base AX, to get AWD. The AX trim will now only be available with diesel engines.
The open differential variants of the AWD LX trims have also been discontinued. Despite the removal of eight variants, the Thar continues to be priced between Rs 13.87 lakh and Rs 21.
