The carmaker has said certain versions of its 2017-18 F-150s, Expeditions, and Lincoln Navigator cars would be recalled due to the safety issues. In a recall notice, Ford said: “The brake master cylinder may allow brake fluid to leak from the front wheel circuit into the brake booster.“A brake fluid leak can cause reduced brake function and extend the distance required to stop, increasing the risk of a crash.
”Motorists affected by the recall are able to get the faulty part replaced free of charge by dealers.Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on April 28, advising customers to get their brake master cylinder replaced. If the master cylinder is leaking, the brake booster will also be replaced, the recall notice stated.
The major carmaker has also issued an urgent “fire risk warning” for approximately 457 of its 2024-25 E-Transit Chassis Cab vehicles.Ford said the tray side rails for the high voltage battery pack in the motor could buckle and crack, allowing water to enter the battery. Its recall warning urged drivers to “park outside and away from structures” until repair work is completed.
Ford added: “Water inside a high voltage battery can cause an electrical short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire.”Dealers are available to inspect and replace, or repair, the battery assembly as necessary, free of charge, the recall notice said.Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on May 5.
Ford has also issued a third recall for certain users of its 2025 Explorer vehicles.24,655 of the motors are thought to be affected by a software error which could cause the loss of drive power.Ford recalls ALL cars with dodgy new gearbox with owners set to be notified – is your motor affected?FORD has recalled cars with a dodgy new gearbox with thousands of owners set to be impacted.
The giant car manufacturer said impacted vehicles won’t be able to engage reverse gear and owners should consult their car dealership for a free part replacement. This is down to a problem during production, which the company was first notified about last month.Livonia Transmission Plant, located in Michigan highlighted the dodgy main control valves and dealers have since been instructed to replace these parts for free.
Affected vehicles include the Bronco sports car produced between November 27, 2024 and February 4, 2025.Ford has also issued a stop-sale order for all vehicles equipped with a 10R transmission. These include the mid-size Ranger, Bronco, the unibody Explorer, and the Lincoln brand’s Aviator, as well as the more recent F-150.
Owners of a faulty vehicle will receive a letter in May to notify them and provide advice on how to seek compensation or a replacement valve. In addition to the Bronco and Ranger, the 2025 Mustang, Explorer, and Lincoln Aviator have also been recalled, reports Autoevolution.Ford said: “The powertrain control module (PCM) may reset while driving, which can damage the park system or cause an engine stall.
“A damaged park system can result in a vehicle rollaway when the vehicle is placed in park without the parking brake applied.“An engine stall while driving can result in a sudden loss of drive power.”The motor giant added that either of these scenarios could “increase the risk of a crash”.
Thankfully, like the other two recalls, affected drivers can have their powertrain control module software updated free of charge by dealers.Owner notification letters are due to be mailed on May 26, the recall notice stated. If you worry you may be affected by any of these recalls, you can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332.
