Spring is a time for optimism, renewal and dreaming of brighter days ahead. This year’s biggest makeup trend is all about pastels, which is a revival from the early 2000s. This time around, we’re seeing more muted hues on the eye, cheeks and lips, which offer a softer and more minimal burst of colour without feeling to intense.

Here’s how I’ve interpreted this trend in a few easy steps: Before: The key to creating this look is to start with a simple and minimal makeup base. My base consists of foundation, concealer, bronzer and a neutral lip colour. Eyes: To enhance my eyes in one step, I used the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Cupcake.

This shade is the perfect mix of pastel pink and lavender and the easy-to-use multi stick is designed for quick and effortless application. It can be used as a liner and a primer, it’s highly pigmented, ultra-creamy and super blendable. Note: The pastel trend this time around is less about frosty formulations and leaning more toward the iridescent, satin, shimmery and metallic finishes.

Blush: To play up the pastel theme, I amped up the blush using MAC Powder Blush in Pink Swoon. It’s a soft candy pink shade with a satin finish. Finishing: To complete the look I used the Makeup by Mario Surreal Skin Soft Setting Spray designed to hydrate the skin and set the makeup for up to 16-hours.
