Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko has been admitted to rehab after drug abuse allegations. He admitted to drug use and will now undergo treatment. Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko has been admitted to a rehab centre following allegations of drug abuse.

The actor faced claims from his Soothravakyam co-star, Vincy Aloshious, who filed a formal complaint with the Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce, accusing him of misconduct and drug use on set. Following the allegations, Chacko was arrested by the police, where he reportedly admitted to consuming narcotic substances. The actor shared his desire to get better and hence was admitted to a rehab centre.

After Vincy’s complaint, the Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce informed Chacko’s family, suggesting he get professional help for his addiction. According to a Mathrubhumi report, the Leo actor will receive treatment through the Kerala government’s de-addiction program, ‘Vimukthi.’ His recovery process will be overseen by the Excise department, suggests reports.

Although Vincy Aloshious did not file a police complaint, the Excise Department took notice of the situation and arrested Shine Tom Chacko. After several hours of questioning, he was released on bail. Recently, Chacko and actor Sreenath Bhasi were questioned by the Excise Department in connection with a hybrid ganja case.

Director Khalid Rahman and Ashraf Hamza were also arrested in a separate marijuana possession case. Earlier this month, Kerala’s Excise officials in Alappuzha seized hybrid ganja worth Rs 2 crore from Christina and Feroz. Christina, aged 41, admitted to consuming drugs with Chacko and Bhasi, leading to their summons by the police.

Chacko, who has previously faced allegations of drug use and misconduct, remains under close scrutiny. On April 22, the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) issued a stern final warning to Chacko, urging him to avoid any further drug use or disruptive behaviour on film sets. FEFKA’s general secretary, B Unnikrishnan, confirmed during a press briefing that Chacko had admitted to using drugs.

“FEFKA informed family members of Shine that he required professional assistance to overcome the problem of drug use. We will not cooperate with him if he violates the assurance not to create any more problems," Unnikrishnan said during the press conference. Chacko’s troubles deepened last week when he was reportedly involved in an incident during a narcotics raid at a hotel in Kochi.

The actor allegedly fled the scene but was later apprehended by Kochi police on April 19 after a prolonged interrogation..
