The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested a 24-year-old man, Shamsu Yakubu, following a viral video in which he was allegedly involved in an indecent act with a goat. According to information obtained by PUNCH Metro on Thursday, Yakubu was apprehended on Tuesday after the video, which gained widespread attention on TikTok, showed him instructing someone to record him as he appeared to lick the genitals of a goat. In the video, Yakubu reportedly stated that he performed the act in an attempt to gain popularity online, saying, “I did it to trend on social media and become famous.
” The video sparked outrage among viewers and community members. Concerned residents, disturbed by the footage, reportedly threatened to confront Yakubu before a local leader intervened and alerted the Hisbah Board. During questioning by Hisbah officials, Yakubu denied fully engaging in the act.
“I swear to Allah, I did not lick the goat’s genitals. I only put my mouth around the area,” he stated, adding that it was his first time and he had no intention of repeating it. Deputy Commander-General of the Hisbah Board, Sheikh Aminuddeen Abubakar, condemned the incident, expressing disappointment over the behavior.
“It is unfortunate that a Muslim man would use his mouth in such a manner, disregarding both religious teachings and societal values,” he said. Sheikh Aminuddeen also criticized the growing trend of individuals engaging in controversial acts for social media fame. He announced that Yakubu would undergo psychiatric and drug evaluations to assess his mental state.
Additionally, the Hisbah Board plans to subject the goat to a veterinary examination to check for any potential health issues, and the suspect will also undergo medical testing prior to prosecution. The official issued a warning to others who may consider similar acts for online attention. “Anyone caught performing degrading stunts in the name of fame will be arrested and face legal consequences,” he stated.
