Witnesses are asking to contact Humberside Police following the Easter Sunday incident

A man who was assaulted on Spring Bank while he was holding his dog had to go to hospital with a fracture and suspected concussion suffering "the worst pain I have been in". Sebastian had been with his partner heading to an Easter Sunday dinner with his family, but ended up drenched in blood and in the "worst pain of my life" following the attack at around 11:15am. He told Hull Live: "We were close to Planet Gym at the crossing on Spring Bank on the other side of the road.

There was a man walking in the opposite direction, walking towards us. He mumbled something on his way past, we had no idea what he said. "But we didn't acknowledge him, didn't turn around or say anything.

As we got to the crossing, I went to push the button and he just shouted, 'Oi, mate' or 'Oi, man'. I glanced - literally just turned my head slightly - to look to see whether he was shouting at us. "He was running at me.

I don't know what happened, but I think he just ran directly into me and just sent me flying onto my face. I don't know what happened after that, I just remember being on the floor. "My partner said he got in her face as well, but she put him off a bit by shouting at him about the dog.

Because I was holding my dog and as I went down, I let her go, and she ran away. "She was weaving through the road in the traffic, and it took some passers-by to catch her eventually and bring her home. I don't know how many people walked past me who didn't help me.

"My partner said she didn't realise how badly I was hurt at first, and she just saw the dog run away. So, at first, she tried going after the dog. "There were a few people heading towards me, so she asked them to check on me and they didn't, they just walked straight past, apparently.

It was pretty upsetting, but I suppose people get scared, they could have thought I caused trouble, I don't know." Fortunately, a woman stopped her car and helped Sebastian, who recalled he was in "the worst pain I have ever been in". "I think she was about to ring the police, but then a police car drove past, so she flagged the police car down," he said.

Another man arrived and stayed with Sebastian. "I can't really remember much of it, I think people were trying to speak with me, but I'd had a pretty big blow to the head," he said. Sebastian said the Humberside Police officers who arrived on the scene were "really good" and phoned for an ambulance and then offered to drive him to hospital when they were told it was a 40-50 minute wait for a category two.

A family friend took Sebastian to A he said he was seen quickly and had a CT scan to check his head injury and "thankfully it came back clear - my face damage is cuts and bruises". Sebastian said he was diagnosed with a broken right index finger. "All my physical injuries are healing pretty well, but it is more the psychological side at the moment," he said.

"I haven't been out on my own; if I hear anybody walking behind me, I have to stop and let them pass."
