Bengaluru: A man and his daughter died after a container truck overturned and crushed their two-wheeler near Lingasettipura Gate in Chikkaballapur taluk around 6pm Saturday. The victims have been identified as Venkatesh, 30, and Deeksha, 4, residents of Bandahalli village. Venkatesh's wife, Roopa, sustained serious injuries and was shifted to a hospital in Bengaluru for treatment.
Eyewitnesses working in nearby fields reported that the container truck was speeding and lost control just before getting to the Bengaluru-Ballari national highway on its way to Hyderabad. The impact was so severe Venkatesh and Deeksha died on the spot. Locals have called for the laying of service roads along the highway to ensure safer travel and prevent similar accidents in future.
