Man found dead by suicide in Abia

A 32-year-old man, Andrew Chukwuka Nwosu, was found dead by suicide along the Olokoro-Umudike Road in Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State on Thursday morning, April 17, 2025. Nwosu, a native of Itaja Obuohia Olokoro in the same local government area, reportedly parked his car by the roadside before using his belt to hang himself on a nearby fence. Eyewitnesses who discovered his body alerted the police.

The Abia State Police Command confirmed the incident through its spokesperson, DSP Maureen Chinaka. “Yes, the incident happened. One Andrew Chukwuka Nwosu from Itaja Obuohia Olokoro in Umuahia South LGA was found hanging on a fence along Olokoro-Umudike Road,” Chinaka stated.



She added that officers from the Ubakala Division visited the scene, took photographs, and moved the body to Madonna Mortuary for preservation and autopsy. There were no visible signs of violence, and a preliminary investigation is underway. The motive behind the suspected suicide remains unclear.
