Man sentenced to 25 years for 2021 murder outside Walgreens

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A man was sentenced to twenty-five years in prison Thursday after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in a 2021 shooting outside a Walgreens in Parkway Village. On December 29, 2021, 60-year-old Juanita Washington was shot to death outside a Walgreens on Perkins Road in Parkway Village.

A warrant for first-degree murder was issued on January 12, 2022. According to court records, surveillance video showed Morton pulling up next to Washington's car in a white van. He then got out of the van and fired through the driver's side door, hitting Washington multiple times.
