Luxury reimagined at Lamina 2025

Luxury reimagined at Lamina 2025 An art conversation is creating a whole new vocabulary to define luxury—not just as a product, but as a purpose. The ManilArt Foundation (MAF) and Bayo Manila Foundation present Lamina 2025, a convergence of art, fashion, and sustainability in an event that highlights heritage, artistry, and innovation. This marks the first time since ManilArt began nearly two decades ago that the visual art fair group is collaborating with Bayo Atelier, a fashion platform at the forefront of the circular economy and slow fashion movement in the Philippines.

ManilArt Foundation president Amy Loste and Bayo Atelier owners Leo and Anna Lagon have joined forces to create a three-day immersive experience designed to challenge traditional notions of luxury, hosted at the main ballroom of City of Dreams Manila. A post shared by Lamina Manila (@lamina.manila) Layers of luminous threads Lamina loosely translates from Latin as “layer,” evoking the layering of artistry, heritage, and sustainability.

“It is also a jumbling of letters in the City of Manila’s name,” Amy adds. “The project brings together 17 years of ManilArt’s portfolio in the visual arts, along with our partners, and combines this with Bayo Atelier’s three decades of experience in retail and fashion apparel—most notably, their leadership in the local sustainable and circular fashion scene, as recognized by their partnership with the United Nations Global Compact.” Last November, Amina J.

Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and Chair of the United Nations Sustainable Development Group, visited Bayo Atelier’s manufacturing facility and its community-based initiatives that train women as artisans. The mid-year event, styled as a “curated lifestyle fair,” brings together landmark collaborations. Patis Tesoro teams up with French textile artist Francis Dravigny to create exclusive fabrics crafted using heritage techniques and local materials.

These textiles are then reimagined by Bayo Atelier into mindful, modern, and timeless designs. Sculptural pieces by Anna Orlina and narrative artworks by Bea Policarpio take on new dimensions through wearable art and fashion performances. Bea also amplifies the voices of children from Best Buddies Philippines, focusing on themes of empowerment and belonging.

These are part of one of the major segments titled “Luminous Threads: A Convergence of Art, Fashion, and Sustainability.” Wearable art, collectible cars An immersive exhibit bridges art and function, with Dominic Rubio setting the visual tone through a commissioned banner artwork and hand-painted art cars for Museo Orlina. “A new car will be unveiled,” Amy shares.

“We’ve also assembled a roster from the ManilArt portfolio that includes functional and kinetic art, furniture, wearable art jewelry by Hoseki, and paintings and sculptures by Ramon Orlina, Bullet Demetera, Agi Pagkatipunan, Helena Alegre, and more.” Different events will headline the three-day program. “Everything that will happen is rooted in circularity—from responsible material sourcing to inclusive creative collaborations,” Amy explains.

This commitment to meeting present needs without compromising resources, the environment, or future generations aligns with the City of Dreams’ core values. Charisse Chuidian, Vice President for Public Relations at City of Dreams, expressed the full support of the luxury integrated resort hosting Lamina 2025, which coincides with the resort’s 10th anniversary. “At the heart of the resort’s world-class hospitality is its commitment to delivering sustainable luxury—with a vision to inspire guests that a sustainable future is a better future,” Charisse says.

Lamina 2025 will take place at the Grand Ballroom of City of Dreams, from May 2 to 4, 2025..
