Wire-cutting baseball fans in the District have been plagued by MASN for years as the cable network remained the exclusive home for Nationals and Orioles broadcasts. The company finally unveiled a streaming option on Monday. The new service, MASN+, will be available to customers immediately for $20 per month.
An annual plan is available for $90. The streaming service will be exempt from blackouts, patching a nagging issue for MLB.tv subscribers who were unable to stream local games.
“Our goal is to connect all fans to the excitement of Orioles and Nationals baseball,” Greg Bader, MASN’s executive vice president and general manager, said in a statement. “MASN+ allows O’s and Nats fans throughout the Mid-Atlantic who have elected to cut the cord to view their favorite team’s games and all that MASN has to offer.” The streaming service will not affect the cable network, MASN officials said.
MASN began in 2005 when the Nationals moved to the District. To placate former Orioles owner Peter Angelos, who was concerned about another team encroaching on his territory, the Baltimore franchise was given a controlling 77% stake in the network. Years of disputes over broadcast fees, negotiations and litigation ensued.
The 2025 season will be the final year that fans can watch Nationals games on MASN. MLB announced a resolution for the years-long dispute over MASN last month, solving any lingering concerns for the two franchises. The Nationals will need to find a new cable and streaming partner for the 2026 campaign.
