Golf's top players are competing for much more than the green jacket today.

One lucky golf player will don the famous green jacket later this afternoon when the final round of the Masters comes to its conclusion at Augusta National. Arguably the biggest individual prize in golf, it’s a chance for one player to write their name in the history books forever. With twists and turns likely on the last day of action in Georgia, there’s still plenty to play for in the final round.

But how much will each player competing bank from their Masters exploits? The Masters represents the first big-money spinner for golf players this year, but that doesn’t mean the sport’s top talents haven’t already been earning the big bucks in 2025. Heading into this weekend’s tournament, it was Rory McIlroy who sat top of the leaderboard for PGA Tour earnings so far this year, with his two victories having contributed towards his £7m worth of earnings. Other big earners on the Tour this year have been Russell Henley with £4.

3m in prize money, and Collin Morikawa just behind with £4.2m. All of that could be about to change this weekend, with plenty of cash up for grabs at Augusta.

A total purse of just under £16million has been on offer for players throughout the weekend, making it the second-most profitable major on the golf schedule behind the U.S. Open.

It’s the second consecutive year the purse has been worth £16.9m , with last year’s event won by Scottie Scheffler, having been an increase on the 2023 edition. As such, it means the winner of the Masters will bank a healthy £2.

8m for topping the standings this evening. It’s over £1m more than the prize on offer for the second-placed finisher, who in turn will pocket £1.6m instead.
