KATHMANDU: Directed by Simoes Sunuwar, Jante Bakhro features popular actors Saugat Malla, Ashif Shah, and Garima Sharma in lead roles. Initially, the film’s first poster was unveiled on Chaitra 13, with its release date set for Jestha 23. However, on Chaitra 21, the film’s song Ghamai Raja was launched, and during the song’s release event, it was announced that the film’s release date would be changed.

The new release date was shifted to Jestha 9. But with Viral Gorkhe, another film starring Saugat, also set to release on Jestha 30, there would be a clash as both of Saugat’s films were slated to hit theaters within a week. To avoid direct competition between the two films, Jante Bakhro’s release was postponed by one week, as confirmed by producer Santosh Gautam during the song launch event.

Interestingly, while Ghamai Raja lists Jestha 9 as the release date, the latest promotional materials and the Angurko Jhuppo song, released last Friday, show Jestha 23 as the official release date. This implies that the film is back to its original schedule, having had a second date shift. In a stunning turn of events, Rajesh Hamal, the veteran actor, is coming back in an entire avatar as a hero after nine years of hiatus through his film Narsingha: Avatar.

Initially slated for release on Chaitra 29, Narsingha: Avatar was rescheduled due to a potential clash with two major films—Pradeep Khadka’s Pitambar and Bipin Karki’s Karma. Hamal expressed his desire not to compete with junior actors during the same release week, resulting in the date change. Now, with Jante Bakhro pushed to Jestha 23, Narsingha: Avatar will strike the theaters on Jestha 9, with a solo release.

The step gives Hamal’s movie a competition-free box office run, clear from the clash of Saugat Malla’s Jante Bakhro. May is shaping up to be an exciting month for movie lovers, with six films set to release throughout the month, ensuring that viewers will have something fresh to watch each week. On May 2, the first Friday of the month, Dilip Rayamajhi’s Hello Kansiram and the multi-starrer Ke Ghar Ke Dera: Ghar Number 2 will hit theaters.

The latter stars Aryan Sigdel, Khagendra Lamichhane, Nischal Basnet, Keki Adhikari, and Upasana Singh Thakuri in leading roles. The following Friday, May 9, will see the release of Narsingha: Avatar, starring Rajesh Hamal alongside Raj Katwal, Neeti Shah, and Sanisha Bhattrai. On May 16, Dinesh Raut’s Mahabhoj, which coincides with the Republic Day holiday on May 15, will be released.

Jante Bakhro will officially hit theaters on May 23, finally settling on the release date after multiple changes. To close out the month, on May 30, Viral Gorkhe featuring Saugat Mall alongside Srishti Shrestha will be released. With this schedule, May will offer movie lovers a new film every week, including two releases in the first week itself, ensuring a thrilling cinematic experience.
