MANILA, Philippines — Maynilad Water Services Inc. said its P700-million facility in Pasay, designed to convert treated used water into drinking water, is nearing completion, with its progress rate now at 82 percent. In a statement on Friday, the West Zone concessionaire said the water plant was on track for completion by December, boosting Maynilad’s production capacity by 12 million liters per day (MLD).

About 60,000 residents would benefit from this facility, the company said. According to Maynilad, the facility will utilize a multi-stage treatment process that purifies used water to meet the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water set by the Department of Health. In 2022, the firm also started operating a similar facility in Parañaque City, allowing it to provide 5 MLD of potable water to two villages.

Maynilad is also working on its upgrades; however, no details on this have been disclosed yet. READ: BIZ BUZZ: Will you drink sewage water?
