Columbus is set to welcome a groundbreaking new concept this June: Mecca Beverage House, a craft beer incubator dedicated to supporting minority-owned beverage brands. The space, located at 745 Taylor Ave., will serve as both a production facility and a community taproom.
Created by Sizzle Perry—founder of Central Ohio’s first Black-owned brewery, Crafted Culture Brewing—Mecca aims to provide a supportive environment where underrepresented entrepreneurs can grow their beverage businesses with guidance and shared resources. “Just like kids need nurturing before going out on their own, small businesses need a safe place to grow,” Perry explained in a recent interview with 614 Now. Mecca will feature brands such as DFQ Beer Company, Outlaw Ciders, Meulanated Meadery, Wild Ohio Brewing, and Crafted Culture, with more expected to join.
In addition to beer and cider, Perry is exploring partnerships with minority-owned coffee and tea producers, which could expand Mecca’s offerings and operating hours. The venue takes over the former Pretentious Barrel House space and is scheduled to open on June 19..
