Former Indiana State men's basketball player Merritt Alderink who stands at 6-foot-7 and 215 pounds, announced via his X account Saturday afternoon that he was returning to his home state of Michigan to attend Eastern Michigan University.Alderink came to ISU from his hometown of Zeeland, Mich., where he attended Zeeland High School.

He'll be going to an EMU team that went 16-16 overall and 9-9 in Mid-American Conference play during the 2024-25 campaign. The EMU Eagles ended the season on a two-game losing skid with a home record of 9-5, 6-10 on the road and 1-1 at neutral-site games.Other departures for ISU have been Jaden Daughtry to Richmond, Josiah LeGree to Morehead State and Tyran Cook to Western Illinois.
Jahni Summers also announced his intentions to enter the portal.
