The Met Office has given its verdict on whether a 'mini heatwave ' could hit the UK with temperatures set to soar in a matter of days . London will start heating up next Monday (April 28), although the warmest temperatures are predicted for next Tuesday and Wednesday, when the weather agency's forecast predicts a maximum of 23C, according to MyLondon . Monday will be dry and bright with a glorious 22C, and the best temperatures will be saved for the evening after work, from 4pm to 7pm.
The stunning weather will continue into Tuesday, with the Met Office hourly forecast shows a peak of 23C in the late afternoon. Wednesday could also see highs of 23C. The Met Office forecast for April 27 to May 6 says: "Starting off with something of a northwest to southeast split; higher pressure located towards the southeast should bring fine and increasingly warm conditions across at least southern UK, whilst there is a greater chance of periods of cloud, rain and stronger winds affecting the north.
"There will be fine weather here at times as well too however. There's a small chance that fine and very warm weather could extend right across the country early next week." Netweather maps forecast temperature highs of 20C around London next Tueesday and Wednesday.
On Thursday and Friday, temperatures will drop slightly to 21C, but the warm weather is set to continue into next weekend. Looking ahead to May, the Met Office predicts warm and hot spells. Its long range forecast between May 7 and May 21 says: "Temperatures are likely to be around average overall, with a slightly increased chance of warm or hot spells.
"Any such spells could be accompanied by locally heavy showers and thunderstorms.".
