Edits allows users to shoot up to 10 minutes of footage, manage projects easily, and export videos without watermarks. It features a frame-accurate timeline, clip-level edits, auto-enhance options, and visual effects like green screen and transitions.

Meta, on Tuesday, launched its new standalone video creation app called Edits. The app was first teased by Instagram chief Adam Mosseri earlier in January. The app, now available for download, is said to offer advanced editing tools, real-time performance insights, and direct sharing options—all designed for mobile use.

The launch marks Meta’s latest move to court creators beyond Instagram and Facebook, as it seeks to compete with platforms like TikTok and CapCut. The company says Edits was built in close collaboration with creators to address common pain points in the production workflow. “We want to build tools that allow creators to express themselves freely—not just on our platforms, but anywhere,” Meta said in a statement.

Edits allows users to shoot up to 10 minutes of footage, manage projects easily, and export videos without watermarks. It features a frame-accurate timeline, clip-level edits, auto-enhance options, and visual effects like green screen and transitions. The app also provides real-time data on key metrics such as skip rate, giving creators actionable insights that can help improve content performance.

Users can share videos straight to Instagram and Facebook or export them watermark-free to use anywhere else—giving creators more flexibility with where they post. The company said that it is already working on new features like keyframe controls for precise timing, AI effects for quick visual changes, and tools that make collaboration with brands or other creators easier. More fonts, transitions, filters, and royalty-free music are also on the way.
