Cam Ward was viewed as the consensus top quarterback in the NFL Draft for months leading up to the event, and his former college coach fully expects him to live up to expectations. Miami head coach Mario Cristobal attended the NFL Draft in Green Bay on Thursday night to support Ward and other Hurricanes players. Cristobal spoke about Ward before the start of the first round and delivered a great quote.
"He's about as juiced as you can get. He'd rather skip all of this and go right to work, to be quite honest with you," Cristobal said of the draft. "That's what he is.
That's what he's always been. All of the conversations are about the next steps for him. I think people are gonna be really happy with what they see out of him.

twitter.com/pFBE3N75uF Ward transferred to Miami from Washington State ahead of last season. He had an outstanding year with 4,313 passing yards, 39 touchdowns and just seven interceptions.
Ward also rushed for four touchdowns and was a Heisman Trophy finalist. Miami went 7-6 under Cristobal in 2023 and 5-7 in the coach's first year with the program in 2022. Ward led the Hurricanes to a 10-3 record last season, so Cristobal has a lot of gratitude toward the quarterback for helping to put the school back on the map.
