Aston Villa president of football operations was reportedly in attendance in Norway on Easter Monday watching Sverre Nypan

Aston Villa's president of football operations Monchi was reported to have attended Rosenborg's meeting with Eliteserien opponents Valerenga on Easter Monday in order to make a further check on transfer target Sverre Nypan and speak with his father about the prospects of a move. Teenage talent Nypan, who is a regular in the Rosenborg side despite only being 18, travelled with his club to Oslo where they saw off Valerenga 2-0. Nypan himself played a little over 70 minutes before he was withdrawn, and it's claimed that Monchi , and Villa scout Alberto Benito who accompanied him, left following his substitution.

Only recently, Nypan's father Arne confirmed that his son, coveted by various clubs from around Europe, was in the process of completing a move away from boyhood club Rosenborg ahead of England's summer transfer window. He said: “I am in the process of selling my son and then I am buying an accounting firm.” Nypan has switched agents since breaking into the Rosenborg first-team, when it became clear of his abilities; he is now represented by Rafaela Pimenta, who has the likes of Nypan's compatriot Erling Haaland, Paul Pogba and Liverpool boss Arne Slot on her books, after she took over from the late Mino Raiola.

Nettavisen, via Sport Witness , report that Monchi stayed in the Norwegian capital but refused to comment on the speculation when he was approached, but it's understood that Villa remain in pole position to secure a deal with Rosenborg for Nypan ahead of the summer transfer window. Villa already have Yasin Ozcan arriving from Kasimpasa, too. What is Villa's priority in the summer window?
