In her highly-anticipated interview on Insight with Chris Van Vliet , four-time WWE women’s champion Bayley shared an unexpected aspiration for her career. The interview, which took place before WrestleMania 41, saw Bayley discuss many of the highlights of her career thus far. The conversation tackled her love/hate relationship with veteran commentator Michael Cole, scrapped plans for Damage CTRL, and her infamous heel turn.
However, there was one storyline pivot that Bayley alluded to that she has yet to fulfill. Bayley revealed that she would love to be a part of romantic angle at some point in her career. Romantic storylines aren’t unheard of in WWE (just ask Rhea Ripley, Dirty Dom, and Liv Morgan).
However, they are typically associated with the wilder years of the Attitude and Ruthless Aggression eras. Throughout her career, Bayley has shifted seamlessly between heel and face, convincingly displaying the lighter and darker sides of her persona. “I just want to do everything in wrestling.
That’s how I always thought. I want to be a bad guy. I want to be a good guy.
I want to be in a faction. I want to be in a tag team. I want to be a singles wrestler.
I want to be in a romantic love angle someday. I want to be able to do everything, because there’s so many different things that we could do in this crazy world to not try different avenues and work with as many people as possible. I just want to do it.

Another interesting reveal from the interview were the plans for Damage CTRL that never came to fruition. Bayley wanted to add more wrestlers to the faction, naming Alba Fyre, Raquel Rodriguez, and current AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm as options that were seriously discussed. However, one narrative ambition that Bayley hoped to achieve has very much become a reality in WWE.
With Damage CTRL at their peak, Bayley always envisioned Iyo Sky as the leading champion of the stable. “Iyo was my champion; she was going to be the champion,” said Bayley, of her former stablemate. Iyo Sky defended her world championship against Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair in a scintillating triple threat at WrestleMania 41.
Conversely, Bayley was a creative casualty. Initially booked to challenge for the women’s tag titles alongside Lyra Valkyria, Bayley was replaced last minute by a returning Becky Lynch. With Lynch turning on Valkyria during Raw this week, it’ll be interesting to see how Bayley figures in that storyline.
Bayley has competed twice against Valkyria recently, including a losing effort for the Intercontinental title. However, she has also teamed up with Valkyria, initially winning a tag team gauntlet to earn their WrestleMania 41 match. While Lynch looks likely to challenge Valkyria for her championship, Bayley could figure in that storyline with a revenge angle.
