Iyanna Alves Lorain>>Girls track and field Senior>>Sprints On the track: Alves racked up a runner-up finish and three third-place finishes at the LCAAA Invitational. The senior finished second in the 100 in a personal record of 12.41 seconds.
She also finished third in the 200 with a PR of 25.75 seconds and was a part of the Titans’ 4×100 and 4×200 relay teams. Off the track: Alves will continue her track and field career at Tiffin University.
The senior’s favorite sports memory is the coaches grilling and bringing snacks to the athletes after practice. Alves’ favorite show is “Pretty Little Liars” and favorite food is chicken and rice. Carter Boone Amherst>>Boys track and field Sophomore>>Sprints and jumps On the track: Boone helped the Comets set LCAAA Invitational records in the 4×100 and 4×200 relays and earn two victories.
The sophomore also finished fourth individually in long jump. Off the track: One of Boone’s favorite memories is attending New Balance Indoor Nationals in Boston with the 4×200 relay team. His favorite artist is Cardi B.
Daniel Grisel Vermilion>>Boys track and field Senior>>Distance On the track: Grisel guided the Sailors to victory at the Edison Invitational. The senior was a part of Vermilion’s winning 4×400 and 4×800 relay teams. He stepped in for an injured teammate in the 4×400.
Grisel also won as an individual with a winning effort in the 800 with a PR of 2:02.9. He also finished fourth in the 1,600 with a time of 4:43.
8. Off the track: Grisel will attend Bowling Green State University and major in mechanical engineering with the possibility of running club track. Outside of running, he enjoys disc golf, art and video games.
Nadia Pagan Elyria Catholic>>Softball Sophomore>>C On the diamond: Pagan had six hits in 13 at-bats for the Panthers, including five RBI and three home runs. Luke Perkins Olmsted Falls>>Baseball Senior>>1B/P On the diamond: In four games last week, Perkins had seven hits including three RBIs and four doubles. In his one start on the mound, the senior got the win with five strikeouts.
Off the diamond: Perkins will play college baseball at Mount Union University. His favorite sports memory is throwing a one-hitter in the Bulldogs’ playoff opener last year. The senior is a die-hard Cleveland sports fan and enjoys watching sports and playing golf with friends.
Jayden Perrine Bay>>Boys track and field Junior>>Sprints and jumps On the track: Perrine won the 200 in 22.07 seconds and was a part of the Rockets’ winning 4×200 relay at the Rocket Invitational. He also finished second in the 100 with a time of 11.
04 seconds. Off the track: Perrine enjoys watching the Cavaliers, playing golf and eating at Raising Cane’s with his teammates after track meets. Oliver Roy Vermilion>>Baseball Senior>>P/OF On the diamond: Roy picked up two wins on the mound, including a complete game against Willard.
The senior has 20 strikeouts and a 2.29 ERA this season. Off the diamond: Roy will play football at Heidelberg University.
He enjoys playing the guitar, fishing, hunting, working out and listening to music. The senior’s favorite teams are the Browns, Guardians and Ohio State football. The sophomore also struck out nine batters in his three innings on the mound..
