US vendor Motorola Solutions brought AI to first responders with a tool which works with its remote speaker microphone and body camera to cut response times for emergencies. The company stated AI Assist is “a new category of human-AI collaboration for public safety”.Motorola Solutions also took the wraps off SVX, a body camera combined with a radio which it stated halves the number of devices needed by first responders.

SVX is compatible with Motorola Solutions’ APXT Next radios to provide real-time data analysis and communication services for police. The camera combines AI Assist with policing tools to help first responders work more efficiently. For example, AI Assist allows SVX to query a vehicle number plate or driver’s licence and automatically search for associated records or warnings.

AI Assist can also detect keywords in live radio communications to alert nearby officers and command centre staff, turn SVX into a live language translator and guide officers through the steps of life-saving procedures such as administering an EpiPen.Mahesh Saptharishi, EVP and CTO for Motorola Solutions, said SVX and AI Assist are designed “to combine secure voice, video and AI” for faster response times by police. The post Motorola offers AI body cams for first responders appeared first on Mobile World Live.
