Vikki Slade has been encouraging residents in recent weeks to support Dorset businesses as part of the initiative. The campaign was launched in response to the pressures facing small businesses, which include the impact of Trump's trade war, the introduction of a new jobs tax and a flawed business rates system. The Chancellor dismissed the campaign as "inward looking" and confirmed that the Government would not support it.
Ms Slade, a former small business owner, said: "As someone who ran a local business, I will always back our small businesses. "I know the challenges they face firsthand. "I will continue to champion this campaign, with or without the Government’s support.
" "Businesses across Mid Dorset and North Poole will understandably be frustrated and angered by the Government's refusal to stand by them in such tough times. "Many are already struggling under the weight of the Chancellor’s damaging new jobs tax and an outdated business rates system. "Now, with the Trump's trade war, they face even greater uncertainty.
" Ms Slade has urged residents to "Buy Dorset and Back Britain"..
