For Chennai, their seventh loss in nine matches ends their hopes as they now need victories in the next five matches and hope that the play-off cut-off remains at 14 for the fourth-placed franchise. The confidence of Chennai batters has been shot to pieces, and the lack of a collective effort from their bowlers just compounded the problems.
