Katie Phang was marking the end of her show - which has been axed - with congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, the Democratic US representative for Texas's 30th congressional district

In a tearful on-air moment, MSNBC news anchor Katie Phang bid an emotional farewell to one of her guests . During what was the penultimate episode of her MSNBC show , Phang got visibly choked up while talking about politics with Texas congresswoman Jasmine Crockett . As the interview neared its end, an overwhelmed Phang expressed her gratitude, "This is the second to last episode of the show.

Congresswoman, I wanted to thank you for always getting up early and delivering it but I also want to say thank you for your continuing support for democracy." She continued, "It's definitely something that you have made your brand, and it's integrity that you're bringing and I'm grateful for you, always." Crockett, moved to tears by the sentiment, could barely whisper, "We'll miss you.

" Emotions continued to soar as Phang couldn't hold back her tears, replying, "Oh! You're gonna have me crying at the beginning of a show!" She continued, "Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, you haven't seen the last of me. Thank you for being here and getting us started today. I always appreciate you.

" Behind this heartfelt exchange, however, was the stark reality that Phang's show has been dropped in a network reshuffle ordered by MSNBC president Rebecca Kutler. Reflecting on the cancellation, Phang shared her pride in having elevated Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) voices during the run of her show. "I was proud to platform more AAPI (Asian American Pacific Islander) voices than any other cable show ever," she said.

Katie expressed her pride, stating, "And I was, and remain, proud to have been one of the only AAPI hosts with her name on a show. Representation matters." She will remain with the network despite losing her show.

MSNBC's restructuring also impacted Joy Reid, whose show was canceled entirely, and Jonathan Capehart, whose program was axed but he will stay with the network. Ayman Mohyeldin and Alex Wagner also saw their shows terminated. Katie's poignant on-air farewell resonated with viewers, one commenting, "Love this so much.

Jasmine waves goodbye because she's crying too much!" Another echoed, "No idea what the hell is going on at @MSNBC. Katie Phang is a great show host. A great legal mind who is able to distill complicated subjects.

And she has a heart." Click here to follow the Mirror US on Google News to stay up to date with all the latest news, sport and entertainment stories. DAILY NEWSLETTER: Sign up here to get the latest news and updates from the Mirror US straight to your inbox with our FREE newsletter.
