A Grimsby mum-of-five who is passionate about teaching social and essential life skills to children has re-launched a youth club for children in Keelby and the surrounding villages after the building has been closed for the last 18 months. Anna Crombie, who runs Arty Beanz - a community interest company which runs free art and creativity workshops for the community - will re-open Keelby Youth Club at Keelby Youth Centre on Thursday, May 1, following the building on Victoria Road undergoing an extensive revamp. Each Thursday evening from 5.
30pm to 7pm, children aged between six and 10 can attend the Keelby KidStars Club, where they can take part in activities such as drawing and painting, arts and crafts, cooking and baking and an array of games. From 7pm to 8.30pm on Thursdays, children aged between 10 and 16 can participate in the Keelby NextGen youth programme, which will include weekly activities in art, design, cookery classes, games, sports and community projects to help them develop their social and people skills.
Each session will cost £2. Keelby Youth Club will operate from Keelby Youth Centre (Image: Google) Speaking to Grimsby Live, Anna said: "I launched Arty Beanz to help members of the community with their social and emotional wellbeing and I love it, so when I saw the job advertised for the Leader of Keelby Youth Club I just went for it. I'm re-launching the whole thing because it's been shut for 18 months.
"It's open to kids in Keelby and the surrounding areas. These kids don't have many facilities and I want to provide somewhere for them to go weekly and find social enrichment, unleash their creativity and be understood. I'm delighted to have been chosen and I can't wait to get stuck in - I just want to help these kids, watch them grow and help their personalities shine.
"Keelby Youth Centre is a fantastic setting - when I first went I was gobsmacked that it hasn't been used for the last 18 months. All the back walls have been decorated and a new kitchen area has been put in. It's absolutely amazing.

With the NextGen group, I want to encourage them to tidy up the community and teach them how to behave within the community and support their neighbours - just putting their phones to one side for a couple of hours and helping people in the community. I want to bring people in for talks and teach them essential life skills.
"The younger group will be all about social enrichment and getting them more confident in social settings, ready for starting secondary school." Any parents who wish to sign their children up for the new youth club can contact Anna through the 'Keelby Youth Club' Facebook page here or email her on [email protected].
