Nationwide urges customers to check accounts before Wednesday for £50 payment

Nationwide customers are being urged to keep an eye on their accounts as the final £50 payments for The Big Nationwide Thank You are given out.

Nationwide has urged customers to check their bank accounts before Wednesday (April 30) to make sure they have received a £50 bonus. The building society previously revealed it was giving more than 12 million customers £50 each as part of 'The Big Nationwide Thank You'. The thank you payment scheme came as a result of Nationwide purchasing Virgin Money in October last year.

It has reportedly already made 95% of these £50 payments, while the rest "should arrive" by Wednesday (April 30), its website reads. Payments being made by cheque will arrive by May 14. Nationwide said: "As long as the account is in your name, the payment should arrive by 30 April 2025.

"If we can't, and you have a mortgage with us, we will pay £50 into the bank account used to pay your mortgage Direct Debit." Who is eligible for Nationwide's £50 payout? You are eligible for the £50 payment through ' The Big Nationwide Thank You ' if you were a Nationwide member on September 30, 2024, and remain so now. How to save money In the 12 months to the end of September 2024, Nationwide members must also met one of the following criteria: Had at least one qualifying transaction on their current account or savings account Had at least £100 in total in one or more of their current and savings accounts Owed at least £100 (in total) on one or more Nationwide residential mortgages.

You will also have met the requirements if you completed a switch to any Nationwide current account between July 1 and September 30, 2024.
