New bar set to open in downtown SLC, in space once occupied by Bourbon House

Two years after Bourbon House closed in downtown Salt Lake City , the owners of Prohibition have set a date for opening a new bar in the space. Repeal , in the basement of the Walker Center at 19 E. 200 South, is a new live jazz and cocktail bar that will open April 29, according to a news release.

Co-owner Kelly Howard said in a statement that Repeal will be an “extension of Prohibition,” a 1920s-style speakeasy bar at 151 E. 6100 South in Murray. The new bar will feature a “distinctive” dining experience, craft cocktails, a chef’s table for special events and nightly entertainment, the release said.



Reservations can be booked online, starting April 21, at RepealUtah.com . Bourbon House closed in 2023 as a “victim of COVID.

” Before Bourbon House, in the early 1970s, the bar was called D.B. Cooper’s, named for the infamous hijacker, and was in business for around three decades.
