Family-run Breamish Holiday Cottages hope that their new spa will provide the hamlet of Branton with an economic boost

A family-run tourism business has launched a new "luxury" spa after an investment of almost £700,000. It is hoped that the spa at Breamish Valley Cottages, nestled at the foot of the Cheviot Hills in Northumberland National Park , will provide the hamlet of Branton with an economic boost by driving tourism towards the area and creating jobs. The newly-opened spa has two treatment rooms, an outdoor tiled spa, a sauna, ice bath, float room, and a modernisation of existing fitness facilities and changing areas.

Peter Moralee, who runs Breamish Valley Cottages with wife Kim, said: "We're not on the coastline, but we've found that families come here, and they don't need to go anywhere else because they have everything they need. We wanted to build upon this and with the spa we've enhanced the aesthetics and created a tranquil space that complements the natural beauty of Breamish Valley." Breamish Valley Cottages, a business established in 1993 by Peter's parents Peter Snr and Michele, has grown steadily in recent years.

Now hosting 12 cottages on site, it also has an on-site restaurant and leisure facilities such as a tennis court. In creating the new spa, the company were supported by The Cumberland Building Society, who provided financing of £300,000. Peter Moralee continued: " Northumberland is a breath-taking place.

"Whether it's looking around historical castles, finding hidden gardens, or viewing the beautiful countryside, we're thrilled to encourage people to the area and The Cumberland has helped make this possible." Stuart McNaughton of The Cumberland added he was thrilled to have supported Breamish Valley Cottages. He said: "Everyone at Breamish Valley Cottages holds ambitions to grow the business, with the new spa being the latest step in making it a must-visit destination.

We were thrilled to support them in this project." For more information, visit the Breamish Valley Cottages website . Join our Northumberland WhatsApp community for all the latest news Northumberland news direct to your phone.
