New VMC chief takes charge

Vadodara: Arun Mahesh Babu took charge as the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) commissioner on Tuesday. He said the remaining work on the Vishwamitri will be completed and obstructions in the river course will be cleared. Babu told mediapersons that he had been told that 40% of work on the Vishwamitri river project was completed.

He said emphasis will be laid on pre-monsoon activities in the city. Babu said cleanliness will be one of his priority areas. He said he will visit various areas in the city to ascertain what is required to improve sanitation there.



Attempts will be made to improve the ranking of the city in the Swachh Survekshan , he added. The new VMC chief held meetings with officials during the day. He also met functionaries of the elected wing.
