The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Ondo State has reacted to the resignation of its 2024 governorship candidate, Olugbenga Edema, with the state party chairman, Pastor Peter Olagookun, stating that Edema did not fully utilise the opportunities the party provided. In a telephone interview on Sunday, Olagookun explained that Edema’s resignation, which he attributed to internal crises within the party and what he described as its ‘unserious attitude,’ was not entirely unexpected.“The leadership of the party in Edema’s local government has yet to brief me officially, but it’s important to note that he is still under suspension,” Olagookun remarked.
“If he decides to leave the party, we wish him well.”Olagookun further explained that although NNPP had offered Edema the governorship ticket for the 2024 election, he did not fully capitalise on the position. “Edema did not make the best use of the opportunities presented to him, nor did he demonstrate sufficient capacity.
Nevertheless, the ticket has added to his political profile,” he concluded. The post NNPP Ondo Chairman responds to Edema’s resignation appeared first on Nigerian NewsDirect..
