Never one to shy away from a dig, Gallagher mocked Liverpool's relentless pursuit of their first Premier League crown, tipping his beloved City to win the title every year while Pep Guardiola was in charge. Fast-forward five years and the Reds have done it again - this time with an even bigger gap between them and Guardiola's side.
Arne Slot's men didn't just win the title either - they made a statement, completing the double over Manchester City with 2-0 victories both home and away. This season's triumph makes Liverpool just the fifth club to win the Premier League more than once, joining Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and City. It also draws them level with United for the most top-flight league titles in English football history.
Sir Alex Ferguson once vowed to "knock Liverpool off their f***ing perch", but now, the Reds need just one more crown to knock right back. Despite his ill-fated 2019 prediction, Noel was at it again in 2021, telling talkSPORT: "I think with Liverpool, their best years were spent getting [to the title]. Now they're there, I think they're done.
" In fairness to the singer-songwriter, City would go on to win four titles on the bounce as he previously forecast. But writing Liverpool off? That was asking for trouble. Now, as Liverpool fans toast another title, the celebrations are all the sweeter knowing that somewhere, Noel might just be wishing he'd kept those hot takes to himself.
