Retired teachers from Ciriaco P. Tinga Elementary School in Taguig were gently turned away by security personnel on Monday, April 21, as the viewing had officially closed its doors to the public. The teachers shared that they had no idea the public viewing was only for two days, stressing that they are Noranians since they were kids.
“Baka pwede kaming senior, avid fans ni Nora Aunor baka sakaling mapagbigyan. Kahit hindi kami makalapit, tatanaw lang kaming ganiyan, maligaya na kami,” said one of the teachers. Fans from all ages and from across the country braved the summer heat as they lined up for two-day public viewing on April 19 to 20. The last day of Aunor’s wake is set on Monday, April 21, while state necrological service and funeral rites are scheduled on Tuesday, April 22.
Aunor’s life and legacy will be honored in a state necrological service at the Metropolitan Theater (MET) followed by funeral rites at the Libingan ng mga Bayani. Lotlot de Leon, daughter of the late Superstar and National Artist, asked supporters to allow the family to spend the last night of Aunor’s wake among themselves as she has dedicated almost all her life in service of the public.
