The search for North Okanagan's best athletes is now on. Nominations are being sought for this year's Tim Hortons North Okanagan Athlete, Team and Leadership awards. Now in its 31st year, the awards are an effort to showcase achievements in the region.
Nominations will be accepted until Tuesday, May 20 and can be sent by phone (250-308-1558), or email to Ann Holmes, the chair of the selection committee ([email protected]). Last year, the provincial champion Vernon Secondary School (VSS) junior and senior football teams shared the Team of the Year award, while Lillian Marchand, Brazilian jiu jitsu competitor, took home the Athlete of the Year award.
VSS football coach Sean Smith won the Leadership award, which recognizes an individual's long-term dedication to sport..
